WKF Karate1 Premier League tournament, also known as the Lotto Dutch Open, took place in Rotterdam of the Netherlands on March 19-20.
Comprising of two representatives, national karate team of Iran took part in the event and managed to bag a silver medal.
Competing at -67kg weight category, Iran’s Saeid Ahmadi conceded a 1-0 defeat against the Ukrainian rival in the first round and dropped out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Hamideh Abbasali overcame all he rivals at +68kg weight category on route to the final.
With a total of 31 athletes competing at +68kg category, Abbasali had struck an off draw in the first round before she got the better of two karatekas from Ecuador and Slovakia.
Iran’s skillful karate practitioner faced Tania Nortan Vanesca of the host country where she conceded a 1-0 defeat standing on the second podium.
Abbasali had previously bagged a bronze medal in the first round of Karate1 Premier League in Paris which was held from January 22-24.
The Karate1 WKF Premier League is the prime league event in the world of Karate. Together with the WKF Karate1 World Cup (WWC) it is a series of world class Karate competitions recognized and supported by the World Karate Federation (WKF).
